Selangor Turf Club (STC) and Perak Turf Club (PTC) have partnered with Total Performance Data (TPD) to bring world-leading live GPS tracking and in-race graphics technology to Malaysia

The new landmark partnership represents a significant advancement for the Malaysian racing industry and reinforces strong stakeholder commitment to innovation, raceday presentation and fan engagement.

TPD delivers pioneering horse racing products and content worldwide, with data from the tracking system being streamed in low latency to power TV graphics, on-track displays and several other data-powered race insights. The system enhances the racing experience for fans, bettors, broadcasters, and racing professionals, while the deal will also unlock new commercial and digital content opportunities for Malaysian racing.

For TPD, this new partnership represents another major new milestone in the company’s 10-year journey.

Since TPD was founded, the company has maintained an exclusive partnership with Gmax Technology Ltd.  Designed and developed in Cambridge (UK), the Gmax Race System – by far the most widely utilised of its kind in global racing – tracks all horses in a race and provides real-time data including speed, position, stride information, running order and race timing.

As a result of this new partnership with TPD, the Malaysian horse racing industry not only undergoes further professional development but also provides its viewers and bettors with an informative, modern, and captivating sporting experience. The aim is for the system will be live at both racecourses later this year.

About Perak Turf Club:

The Perak Turf Club was established in 1886, marking the beginning of horse racing in Perak, with the first races held in Taiping, then the capital of Perak. In 1964, the Perak Turf Club demolished and rebuilt its premises on a grand scale. The current Grandstand, designed by Australian architects and constructed in 1967, was officially opened by His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Perak, on February 1, 1971. The Grandstand remains one of Ipoh’s most iconic buildings and a popular spot for tourists and photography enthusiasts. Its unique design features 180-foot-high twin towers overlooking the expansive racetracks and the winning post.  Perak hosts 30 annual racedays with highlights including the Perak Derby (March), Gold Vase (August), Charity Cup (September) and Coronation Cup (November).
