Ladbrokes 1965 Chase (G2)
Ladbrokes 1965 Chase (G2) “Jango Baie” The 2025 renewal of the 1965 Chase is going to be one of those races where the strength of the form will be interpreted in several different ways throughout the weeks ahead. On the one hand, the race was won by an Arkle winner who has taken another step […]
Dubai Creek Mile Sponsored by Nakheel
Dubai Creek Mile Sponsored by Nakheel “Mendelssohn Bay” Mendelssohn Bay does have a very good record on the Dirt at Meydan, especially in the earlier part of the season, but it’s also fair to say that this performance was a career best effort from Bhupat Seemar’s 4-year-old. He won the maiden on this card in […]
Jockey Club Oaks (G3)
Jockey Club Oaks (G3) “Fionn” The Jockey Club Oaks at Aqueduct in New York had been dominated by European horses since its inception in 2019, with Charlie Appleby landing the last 2 renewals with Eternal Hope and Beautiful Love. However, with no European presence in 2025, it was left to the home team and they […]
Bahrain International Trophy (G2)
Bahrain International Trophy (G2) “Royal Champion” When previewing this race it became apparent that there didn’t appear to be an obvious pace angle amongst the 8 runners and as a result, there was perhaps an opportunity for an enterprising ride from one of the jockeys, who may be able to control the race from the […]
Gran Premio Nacional (G1)
Gran Premio Nacional (G1) Palermo – 8th November 2025 “Gordianus” A winning time of 2:38.23 made this the slowest running of the Gran Premio Nacional, Argentina’s equivalent of the Derby, since He Runs Away won in 2016. That figure is more important than it may seem at first because it highlights the fact that the […]
Grosser Allianz Preis Von Bayern 2025
Grosser Allianz Preis Von Bayern 2025 “Bay City Roller” We have already discussed George Scott’s superb knowledge of the German Pattern program in 2025, but whilst the victory of Caballo de Mar in the German St Leger was an impressive piece of placement, that victory wasn’t entirely unexpected. Fast forward a couple of months and […]
Meydan Review – 7th November
Meydan Review – 7th November The 2025-26 season in Dubai is underway and on Friday afternoon, racing returned at Meydan. The opening card serves as an appetiser for the bigger Carnival races to come later in the winter, but with a couple of interesting maidens and a headline act in the opening race, there was […]
The Melbourne Cup and Crown Oaks
Lexus Melbourne Cup (G1 Handicap) “Half Yours” The 2025 Melbourne Cup was won by the horse that was the fastest out of the gate and the fastest at the finish. Simple when put into those terms, but this was an excellent piece of race riding by Jamie Melham, who held on to her mount into […]
Premio El Ensayo Mega
Premio El Ensayo Mega (G1) 2025 A winning time of 2:27.92 ranks this year’s renewal of the race 8th in the last decade and the overall time was 4.36s slower than the time of Il Campione in 2014, who holds the record time in this race since the turn of the century. We can perhaps […]
Breeders’ Cup Winners 2025
Breeders’ Cup Winners 2025 We have already covered the Breeders’ Cup Classic in some detail, but Forever Young wasn’t the only impressive winner on Saturday night at Del Mar. He is my review of some of the other Breeders’ Cup winners and what the data can tell us about their performances. PNC Bank Breeders’ Cup […]
